Days•40 hours per week (4x10s) $3200 weekly Up to $1500 for referrals 291500 Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Travel Registered Nurse (RN)•First Assistant for the Operating Room (OR) to join our healthcare team at a prominent medical facility. This role involves providing advanced surgical assistance during various operative procedures, ensuring optimal patient outcomes through expert support and adherence to safety protocols. The ideal candidate will possess extensive OR experience, including suturing, anatomy knowledge, and infection control practices, with the ability to adapt quickly in a dynamic hospital environment. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-quality surgical care across diverse specialties, including trauma, pediatrics, and critical care settings. Responsibilities Assist surgeons during operative procedures by providing precise tissue handling, suturing, and hemostasis to facilitate successful surgeries. Maintain strict aseptic technique and infection control standards throughout all surgical activities. Monitor patient vital signs and physiological responses pre• intra• and post-operatively to ensure patient stability. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care plans, including discharge planning and post-operative recovery. Support emergency procedures in Level I and Level II trauma centers, demonstrating proficiency in acute care scenarios. Document all surgical activities accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical records. Demonstrate proficiency in medical terminology and physiology knowledge to communicate effectively with team members. Assist with preoperative preparations, including verifying patient identity, surgical site marking, and equipment setup. Contribute to quality improvement initiatives related to infection control, patient safety, and procedural efficiency. Participate in ongoing education regarding hospital medicine, PICU protocols, and critical care practices. Requirements Valid RN license with current state or national certification. Proven OR experience as a First Assistant or Surgical Technologist with advanced skills in suturing and anatomy. Experience working in Level I or Level II trauma centers; pediatric experience preferred. Knowledge of EMR systems such as Epic or similar electronic health record platforms. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS); additional certifications such as Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) are advantageous. Demonstrated understanding of hospital medicine, medical-surgical nursing, ICU protocols, and emergency medicine procedures. Strong analysis skills for assessing patient vitals and physiological data rapidly. Familiarity with discharge planning processes and interdisciplinary collaboration. Excellent communication skills within diverse healthcare teams; ability to adapt in high-pressure situations. Commitment to maintaining infection control standards and aseptic techniques throughout all procedures.
