1 Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN Nurse Manager for a Perioperative Services leadership role in an acute care, union hospital setting, requiring a BSN and prior perioperative and management experience. Details Acute care hospital setting in a union environment Manager oversees five perioperative units: Pre-Assessment Testing (PAT), Ambulatory Observation Unit (AOU/Preoperative), Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU/Phase I recovery), Procedure Care Unit (PCU/Phase II recovery, Cath Lab, Interventional Radiology, and GI recovery), and Endoscopy Serves both inpatient and outpatient surgical and procedural populations across 35 total beds Manages a team of over 60 FTE supported by Nurse Shift Managers (NSMs) who assist with daily operations Charting system: Cerner (preferred but not required) Monday-Friday, 8-hour day shifts; PACU operates 24/7, other units open 5:30am-7:00pm No weekend, holiday, or on-call requirements 13-week contract Requirements Active CA RN license required (must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted) BSN required Current AHA certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and PALS (pending certifications not accepted) Minimum 2 years of perioperative nursing experience required Minimum 1 year of nursing management experience required Union environment experience required Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked (must include dates of employment and eligibility for rehire) Copy of driver's license required for consideration Additional Information Key daily responsibilities include managing staff schedules and timecards, responding to incident reports, coordinating supply procurement based on physician requests, conducting patient service recovery efforts, and addressing real-time staffing issues as they arise Role involves rounding on patients and supporting units but does not include direct patient care Responsible for throughput, bed management, and day-to-day operational issues across five units Staff performance evaluations are placed in the system by NSMs; manager provides oversight Scrubs (Navy Blue) or business casual attire accepted One-week orientation provided; outgoing manager (transitioning to director role) will be available for questions Travel experience preferred Candidates who were directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity-affiliated facility within the past year are not eligible; candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered Candidates must pass the Relias Dysrhythmia exam before an offer can be confirmed A pass/fail sterile technique test (Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes) is administered on the first day of orientation A two-step interview process is required: an initial pre-screen followed by a manager interview
