Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Travel Registered Nurse specializing in psychiatric care to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this role, you will provide comprehensive mental health nursing services across various healthcare settings, including hospitals, outpatient clinics, and community facilities. The ideal candidate will bring a broad range of expertise in psychiatric nursing, ensuring high-quality patient care while adapting to diverse environments. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patients' mental health and well-being through travel assignments that promote professional growth and development. 40 hours only 5-8 hr. shifts Start Dates 2/16, 3/2, 3/16 Duration is 16 weeks for all skillsets NO RTO will have to make schedule requests when on site Local accepted no radius rule for hospital Responsibilities Conduct thorough patient assessments, including mental status examinations and vital signs, to inform individualized care plans. Administer medications and treatments such as psychotropic drugs and botulinum toxin treatments with precision and adherence to protocols. Monitor patients for acute psychiatric symptoms, managing crises effectively within a multidisciplinary team. Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive care strategies. Document patient progress accurately using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding mental health conditions, medication management, and discharge planning. Assist in specialized procedures including suturing, IV infusions, and sterile technique applications when necessary. Participate in triage assessments for urgent psychiatric needs and contribute to behavioral health case management. Maintain proficiency in trauma medicine, dementia care, Alzheimer's care, and working with individuals with developmental disabilities. Uphold infection control standards during all patient interactions and procedures. Requirements Valid RN license with current registration; previous experience in psychiatric or behavioral health nursing preferred. Demonstrated expertise in Epic or Cerner EMR systems; familiarity with
ICD-9/ICD-10
coding is advantageous. Experience administering injections, IV infusions, suturing, and managing ventilators or respiratory support devices. Knowledge of acute pain management, trauma medicine at Level I or II trauma centers preferred. Strong background in mental health conditions including dementia, memory care, hospice & palliative medicine. Critical care experience in ICU or emergency room settings is highly desirable. Proficiency in laboratory procedures such as specimen collection/processing and phlebotomy. Excellent communication skills for working with diverse populations including children, geriatrics, and individuals with disabilities. Ability to adapt quickly across various healthcare environments including inpatient units, outpatient clinics, assisted living facilities, long-term care centers, and home & community care settings. Commitment to maintaining HIPAA compliance and up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology and physiology.
