Job Summary:

This position is responsible for safely and efficiently driving a trash truck on specified routes to manually and mechanically collect solid waste. Daily work is repetitive and physically demanding. A typical shift involves driving a truck along a designated route and collecting trash/recycling at up to 600 locations. A shift averages 10 hour each day. The physical demands include heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs.), lifting above the waist, gripping with hands, moving at a consistent pace, and constant standing, walking, bending and forward reaching throughout the shift.

Requirements:

Class B (or A) CDL license Current DOT medical card Clean safety and driving record with no more than 2 points on a current motor vehicle report and no DWI or DUI record in past 5 years No felony convictions (due to customer contract stipulations) Pass a pre-employment drug screening Flexibility to work in all weather conditions. Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment. Ability to handle early morning hours Other General Responsibilities include: Following safe practices on and off the truck Inspecting trucks prior to beginning routes and after ending routes for the day to ensure all around safe operating condition. Communicating effectively with supervisors and coworkers about delays, unsafe sites, accidents, equipment breakdowns, and other maintenance problems. Maintain a courteous and cordial manner with all customers encountered on the route. This job can be performed in and out of the truck. Employees are subject to weather elements daily, i.e., heat, sun, rain, snow, wind, etc.
