DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS
The Van Driver will operate a department issued van to transport passengers, program participants, department staff and/or students to and from authorized locations, which may include various human services agencies, events, activities, school, and/or field trips. The Van Driver is required to perform minor routine maintenance to assigned vehicle.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
 Pick up and transport assigned passengers in a safe and timely manner to specified destinations within the local area or surrounding municipalities. On occasion may be required to drive individuals on long field trips and may require overnight stays.  Assist elderly into and out of vehicle with wheel chair lift if needed; ensuring proper safety methods and restraints are used throughout transportation.  Maintain good customer relations by transporting passengers on time and maintain integrity in a courteous and professional manner at all times.  Deliver meals to homebound Elders/disabled community members within the districts and occasionally miscellaneous items to Elder's homes.  Deliver material or documents to other departments.  Responsible for keeping the vans interior and exterior clean; assist in scheduling vehicle use and required maintenance and service (i.e., oil change, breaks, etc.).  Responsible for checking engine oil, tire pressure, coolant, battery fluid, cooling system hoses and operation of safety features.  Prepare and submit monthly mileage log, maintenance reports and other required vehicle records.  Perform other related duties as assigned
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
 Knowledge of state and tribal traffic laws.  Knowledge of state driving rules and regulations.  Demonstrate responsibility in handling property, keys, pager, etc.
