Veterinary Kennel Assistant 642 Hwy 51, Ridgeland, MS 39157 From $12 an hour - Full-time From $12 an hour - Full-time Job Summary Join our dynamic veterinary team as a Veterinary Kennel Assistant, where your passion for animal care and enthusiasm for supporting veterinary professionals will make a meaningful difference in the lives of pets and their owners. In this vital role, you will provide exceptional kennel and animal husbandry services, assist with daily clinic operations, and ensure a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for all animals in our care. Your energetic approach and attention to detail will help foster a positive experience for both animals and clients alike, contributing to the overall success of our veterinary practice. Responsibilities Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kennels, cages, and treatment areas to uphold the highest standards of hygiene and animal safety Assist with animal restraint during examinations, treatments, and procedures to ensure safety for both animals and staff Support veterinary technicians and veterinarians with medication administration, sample collection, and basic medical procedures following proper aseptic techniques Handle animals with care during intake, discharge, or transfer processes, ensuring gentle handling and proper restraint techniques Monitor animal behavior and health status, reporting any concerns or abnormalities promptly to veterinary staff Requirements/Preferences Prior kennel experience or animal husbandry background preferred, but NOT required; familiarity with veterinary clinic operations is a plus
PREFERRED
Knowledge of animal handling techniques regarding dogs and cats.
PREFERRED
Experience with medication administration, restraint methods, and basic veterinary terminology necessary for supporting clinical procedures Ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting animals or equipment and standing for extended periods (At least 50 lb lifting capability required.) Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with veterinary staff and provide compassionate pet care information to clients A proactive attitude with a keen eye for detail; willingness to learn new skills related to veterinary assistance and animal care Join us in creating a caring environment where animals receive top-quality attention while supporting our dedicated veterinary team.
