Job Overview :

McKean Veterinary Hospital is a bustling, small animal general practice offering high-quality care in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. We perform soft tissue surgeries, routine and advanced dental procedures, and manage daily emergencies alongside scheduled appointments. As a Veterinary Technician at McKean Vet Hospital, you'll work closely with a doctor providing hands-on support in exams, treatments, surgical prep and monitoring, and patient care. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and procedures. Perform routine laboratory tests and analyze samples. Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments as prescribed. Monitor animal patients' vital signs and overall health. Maintain accurate medical records for each patient. Provide education to pet owners on animal care and health management. Ensure a clean and safe environment by following aseptic techniques. Restrain animals safely during examinations and procedures. Skills The ideal candidate will possess the following skills: Strong knowledge of animal physiology and anatomy. Proficiency in animal husbandry practices. Familiarity with dog training techniques. Experience with aseptic techniques in a clinical setting. Competence in animal restraint methods for safe handling. Experience working in a laboratory setting for diagnostic purposes. Excellent communication skills for interacting with pet owners and team members.

Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited veterinary technician program

• Preferred Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT)
