Job Description

Summary:
This full-time position serves two roles; Volunteer Coordinator and Advocate in the Domestic Violence Advocacy Program.
Responsibilities:
Provides advocacy and crisis counseling to victims of domestic violence who have sought help from the Domestic Violence Advocacy Program in Family Court. Recruits, hires, coordinates and maintains a volunteer pool of volunteers/interns, who work from New Castle, Kent and/or Sussex Counties Supervises the training of volunteers and interns Ensures that Human Resources Generalist (HRC) is kept abreast of volunteers' status as active or otherwise, provides HRG a volunteer personnel file, and ensures volunteers pass the necessary background check requirements to work for CHILD, Inc. Accompanies petitioners to Family Court hearings Provides information, resources, assistance, referrals, as well as social service advocacy to clients, as necessary. Completes required paperwork and statistical record-keeping, including but not limited to quarterly reports. Communicates with New Castle County Program Coordinator to ensure office is staffed.
Requirements:
Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited school or university (comparable combination of education and experience may be considered). Experience and/or education in volunteer management and social services. Working knowledge of the domestic violence and social service fields and the major practices and problems of their agencies. Experience in supervision. Understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence and the effects on victims. Ability to work effectively with co-workers and agency representatives in a positive and professional manner. Strong interpersonal skills, including ability to work effectively with clients from diverse backgrounds, as well as clients who may have a variety of needs, including substance abuse, mental health, and a history of abuse. Ability to work well as both a team leader and a team member. Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Ability to take initiative and work independently. Understanding of confidentiality and counseling ethics as they relate to work in the domestic violence field.
Pay:
$37,500.00 - $40,000.00 per year
