Volunteer & Retail Manager

Big Dog Ranch Rescue is the largest cage-free, no-kill dog rescue in America dedicated to saving dogs' lives through rescue, rehabilitation, and legislation.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic, organized, and mission-driven Volunteer & Retail Manager to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, community-focused environment and is able to move fluidly through multiple roles. Every day will be different! You will play a key role in expanding our volunteer program, coordinating adoption and community events, and managing the inventory and team in our volunteer-run retail store.

Key Responsibilities:

 Collaborate with the existing Volunteer Coordinator to develop, grow, and support a strong, engaged volunteer team  Recruit, train, and retain volunteers ensuring a positive and rewarding experience  Manage and maintain the volunteer-run Ranch retail store, including inventory oversight, merchandising, and volunteer scheduling.  Take direction from the Fundraising Director on proper set up and merchandising. Report inventory to the director who will place orders for product to be sold.  Take part in off-site adoption and community events overseeing the volunteer teams that execute them.  Track and report on volunteer participation and event outcomes to yield a higher retention rate on our incoming volunteers.

Qualifications:

 Previous experience in volunteer management, nonprofit work, or a related field preferred  Strong organizational and multitasking skills  Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities  Ability to lead, motivate, and engage with widely diverse groups  Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment  Must be available to work Sundays (required) and occasional evenings or additional weekends as needed in a 5 day work schedule
