The Media Technician Supervisor serves as the primary Audio-Visual technical production lead for Shoreline College events, executive meetings, hybrid programs, livestreams, recordings, and campus-wide media production needs. This position works with internal and external campus partners and rental clients to support their campus events, building collaborative campus relationships with the community. The position builds revenue generating opportunities in collaboration within the department and in other areas of the college and community. The Media Technician Supervisor reports to the Director of Conferences, Events, and Continuing Education. This department supports all internal and external events on campus including Theatre productions, external rentals needs, and other events across college spaces. This department is a self supporting revenue generating team.
Primary responsibilities include the following:
Train, coach, and assure performance, building an effective team that is responsive to the needs of the college for campus, campus partners, and rental client AV support Coordinate with college and community constituents to provide Audio-Visual technical production leadership Coordinate media support for live video streaming, web conferencing, lecture capture, and campus meetings for college constituents and partners or rental clients Provide back up support for theatre stage manager and operations Other duties as assigned of a similar nature Qualifications Educati on &
Experience:
High school degree or equivalent AND One (1) year of experience as a senior media technician OR Equivalent education/experience
Knowledge Of:
ADA Title II rules and compliance needs, copyright laws and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) as they apply to duplication, production, and presentation of instructional media and streaming content and other applicable laws, rules and regulations Live media and event technologies including multichannel audio and video mixing boards such as Yamaha and Roland brands Current / Emerging digital media software and audio-visual equipment and programming systems such as AMX, Q-sys, and Dante Lecture capture, recording, and editing software such as Panopto Web conferencing and streaming software such as OBS, YouTube, Zoom and Microsoft Teams Microsoft Office applications such as SharePoint, Teams, Excel, Outlook, and Word programs ctcLink, PeopleSoft, Oracle or other HCM programs
Skill In:
Operating computers and using software Fostering a climate of belonging through awareness and responsiveness Time management, organization, and ability to meet competing deadlines/priorities Entering and/or retrieving data accurately in computerized record keeping systems Handling difficult and sensitive situations, using sound independent judgment within college & legal guidelines Writing/editing/proofreading clear and concise materials resulting in effective oral and written communication with individuals inside and/or outside of the College Establishing/maintaining effective working relationships at all organizational levels Ability to work with a diverse group of students, staff, and the public in a friendly, courteous and helpful manner You can't check off every listed "Knowledge of" and "Skill in?" Conditions of Employment Physical Work Environment:
The College provides services both online and in-person. This position will perform work across campus with Audio Visual equipment, streaming computers, and other technical equipment. This position requires the ability to lift equipment weighing up to 100lbs. The position will have a computer and office workspace, and expected to physically attend meetings both on and off campus. Please note, there may be limited opportunities for online work depending on program or area needs. If authorized for online work, employees will need to provide their own workspace and internet access, noting the College will provide technical equipment and support for online work needs.
Terms Of Employment/Salary:
This position is allocated to pay range 45, under the Washington State Office of Financial Management higher education salary schedule. Salary placement for new employees is determined by the College. This position works 40 hours per week, with a schedule dependent upon department needs. Hiring of this position is contingent on available funding as determined by the College President. PART-TIME FACULTY POSITIONS A
part time faculty member becomes eligible for benefits at the beginning of the second consecutive quarter of half time or more employment at one or more Washington state institutions of higher education. Spring and fall quarters are considered consecutive quarters for benefits eligibility. Half time is determined based on each institution's definition of full time. A part time faculty member must qualify each quarter they teach to maintain eligibility.
