Warehouse Manager About the
Position:
The Warehouse/Distribution Manager coordinates the activities of the warehouse/transportation department and monitors procedures and standards to ensure orderly operations to achieve effective raw material receipt and storage; finished good control and inventory; and proper order fulfillment and distribution. Provides leadership for, and develops the abilities of, warehouse personnel. Responsible for ensuring the warehouse/distribution department compliance with applicable regulatory, governmental, and third-party agencies.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Supports general plant safety, food safety, food defense initiatives and good manufacturing practices with an understanding that these are absolutes and are Priority #1. Ensuring that general safety and food safety are absolute priorities by setting an example to others. Leads safety initiatives, such as a zero-injury workplace by ensuring safe working conditions for employees and compliance with all state and federal regulations on environmental, health and safety issues. Ensures that the department effectively contributes to product quality by using accepted practices for freezing, handling, and pulling of raw materials and finished product. Develops, implements, and manages all warehouse/distribution procedures to ensure all plant goals are met. Hires, trains, and schedules department management and line-level staff including drivers to ensure effective business operations and fulfillment of responsibilities inside and outside the company. Collaborates with other departments to promote scheduling the ensure the timely and full completion of fresh and frozen orders. Communicate order shorts and other deviations per policy. Maintain accurate inventory of raw materials and finished goods and provides for the counting, auditing, and communication of each on a regular basis. Coordinate monthly raw material and finished goods inventories including reporting of results in a timely manner. Conduct re-counts and prepares corrective actions as needed. Prepare paperwork and other documents for inventory management, order fulfillment, shipping, receiving, and distribution. Identifies opportunities to optimize shipping dock and transportation operations. Supervises, trains and coaches warehouse supervisory personnel to include responsibility for personnel and labor issues throughout the plant. Builds a culture of mutual respect, teamwork, and professionalism, demonstrating active support for the company's culture. Understands, coaches, and teaches the principles of the lean manufacturing and management, including lean tools, process capability and operational discipline. Responsible for achieving budgets and KPI's for department as well as all paperwork, reports, and documents necessary for the operation of the department. Maintains records for all phases of warehouse activities from receiving to final distribution. Analyzes results of warehouse operations, determines variances from standard, and takes corrective action as needed. Take appropriate action to ensure the integrity and sustained certification of the food safety and quality systems for the warehouse/distribution department. Responsible for reporting and taking any necessary action to prevent food safety and food quality problems from occurring in the department. Responsible for following and enforcing procedures outlined in the food safety plan and the food quality plan and any other programs that support the food safety and quality systems and other 3rd party audits. Coordinates with the maintenance department and outside contractors on routine and preventative maintenance for distribution vehicles and other department equipment.

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds, stack/unstack or carry, stand and/or stoop for prolonged periods of time, climb stairs and ladders, perform repetitive motions, and work in a dusty, loud, and hot environment.
Experience and Education Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED equivalency, associate or bachelor's degree preferred in a relevant field (Food Science, Nutrition, etc.) 3+ years' related experience in in a warehouse or distribution role, preferably in the food or manufacturing industry. 2+ years of supervisory experience, overseeing a team, managing workflow, and ensuring productivity
