Weld Engineer

Manufacturing Engineer responsible for supporting automated welding operations through tooling, robotic systems, line design, capital planning, and new product launch activities. Job Requirements Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Weld Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field, or minimum 5 years in a technical role supporting automated welding operations in lieu of a degree Understanding of weld tooling design Understanding of robotic and automation systems development Understanding of work center design and line design Understanding of complex welded assemblies Experience supporting product flow improvements and line design within a factory environment Experience directing projects from start to finish Experience supporting issue resolution and quality metrics Experience participating in Function Geometry Reviews (FGRs), Design Process Assembly Reviews (DPARs), and Process Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (PFMEAs) Experience developing labor estimates and part routings in SAP Experience supporting capital and labor estimates Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications Familiarity with wPlanner and MPP Experience using SAP Experience with 3D modeling Preferred Skills Expertise with complex automated manufacturing work cells Experience with robotic programming Experience with Creo, SolidWorks, and/or AutoCAD Knowledge of GD&T Work experience in a union environment Experience with shop floor manufacturing Experience with incentive pay systems Experience with work measurement Knowledge of capital budgeting and capital equipment justification Understanding of Enterprise Product Delivery Process (EPDP) Experience supporting lean cell layout development and material flow improvement Experience supporting new product line launches Job Responsibilities Concept and procure weld tooling, robotic weld systems, specialized racks, and material handling equipment Use E-Tools to determine sequence of events, communicate issues, and verify safety and ergonomic methods Support issue resolution and achievement of quality metrics Participate in FGRs, DPARs, and PFMEA activities Implement product performance improvements and cost reductions for welding operations Support development and implementation of lean cell layouts to improve material flow and material presentation Support Appropriation for Expenditure labor and capital estimates Develop accurate labor estimates and part routings in SAP for program management Support launch activities for new product lines Improve overall product flow and line design within assigned manufacturing areas Support automated welding operations through tooling, equipment, and process development
