AM Job Summary:
Perform welding activities or a combination of welding and finishing activities to complete final fabrication and assembly of various metal frames. Use hand-welding equipment to weld or join metal components and grinding equipment to finish. Perform other general shop tasks. Job site welding as needed.Duties/Responsibilities:
Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly to obtain required configurations or positions for welding, using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, clamps, tape measures and rulers. Cut/alter material components as needed. Welds metal components together to fabricate or repair products, such as machine parts, plant equipment, motors and generators, according to layouts, blueprints or work orders, using brazing and a variety of arc and gas welding equipment. Welds metal parts together, using both gas welding or brazing and any combination of arc welding processes, performs related tasks such as thermal cutting and grinding, repairs broken or cracked parts, fills holes and increases size of metal parts, positions and clamps together components of fabricated metal products preparatory to welding. Pass employer performance tests or standard tests to meet certification standards of Governmental agencies or professional and technical associations, such as bit inspections. Prepare, set up, and operate necessary tools and equipment's for welding job such as shielded metal arc, gas metal arc or other welding equipment's common to the trade. Perform finishing tasks such as grinding, painting, etc. Examine finished product and compare to order specifications. Organize and put away incoming product/materials Stage outgoing product for pick-up or delivery Assist loading/unloading trucks and moving of material/product, may require use of forklift Maintain cleanliness of workspace and assist with general shop maintenance • Additional work activities as assignedRequired Skills/Abilities:
Previous welding experience required Knowledge of welding machines and tools, including their uses, repair, and maintenance Application of basic math and geometry Ability to follow written, visual (drawings or images), and verbal instructions and work independently Position may require a valid driver's license and be insurable to drive Willingness and able to work overtime as needed Utilize technology for tracking hours and job progress (computers, iPad, etc.) Excellent verbal and written communication skills Proactive and responsive in a team environment. Follow all applicable company programs, procedures and policies. Some experience with Microsoft Suite of applications (word, excel, etc.) or the ability to learn as needed. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to bend, twist, stoop and stand for long periods of time. Required to complete pre hire, then annual Fit for Duty Evaluation, including Drug and Alcohol screeningEducation and Experience:
At least 1 year of experience with welding High school diploma or equivalent Welders must hold current certification under American Welding Society (AWS) standards or be actively working toward obtaining certificationWorking Conditions:
