Job Description

Overview Join our dedicated team as a Military Institutional Cook, where you will play a vital role in providing nutritious, high-quality meals to service members in a structured and disciplined environment. This position offers an exciting opportunity to combine culinary expertise with service excellence, ensuring that all personnel receive well-prepared, balanced meals that meet strict safety and hygiene standards. Your culinary skills will contribute directly to the well-being and morale of our military community, supporting their daily routines and overall health. This is a contract job on the Volkfield Air National Guard Base, the base is a training facility and these trainings can last between a few days and a few weeks and overlap. Therefore we will be feeding anywhere from 30-1000 people. This is a seasonal job with most hours between April and October. We will be running two shifts, 4am-12pm and 12pm to 8pm. Must be able to pass a background check to gain access to the base.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Prepare and cook main dishes according to recipes and meal service schedules. 2. Demonstrate strong knowledge of cooking techniques, knife skills, and seasoning. 3. Ability to repurpose leftover food items. 4. Maintain food safety standards, cleanliness, and sanitation in the kitchen. 5. Operate and maintain state-of-the-art kitchen equipment. 6. Ensure consistency in food quality, portioning, and presentation. 7. Assist with additional kitchen duties as needed.
Requirements:
1. Prior banquet cooking experience or a willingness to undergo training. 2. Ability to work in a high-temperature environment. 3. Capable of lifting 30-40 pounds. 4. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes accurately. 5. Adaptability and a team-oriented mindset. This position is essential to ensuring a high-quality dining experience by preparing flavorful, well-executed meals that meet food safety standards and exceed customer expectations. Cooks play a crucial role in maintaining kitchen efficiency, consistency, and overall customer satisfaction.
Pay:
$23.30 - $25.30 per hour
