Custodian (2 Full-time and 2 LTE) Job ID20842 Location Camp Douglas Agency Military Affairs Full/Part TimeFull-Time Regular/TemporaryRegular Classification Code89161 Classification TitleCustodian Introduction The State of Wisconsin, Department of Military Affairs (DMA) is hiring two (2) full time Custodians and 2 Limited Term Employment (LTE) Custodians. These positions are located at Volk Field Combat Readiness Training Center (CRTC), in Camp Douglas, WI. Volk Field is one of only four Air National Guard Combat Readiness Training Centers in the nation, and the only one that does not share its airfield with a civilian airport. The Training Center Mission is to provide a year-round integrated training environment (airspace, facilities, equipment) for units to enhance their combat capabilities and readiness. Position Summary This position is responsible for a variety of custodial tasks. Duties include but are not limited to: dusting/cleaning buildings, appliances, and furnishings, emptying trash, operating household and industrial vacuum cleaners, operating industrial carpet cleaners, sweeping, mopping, stripping, and waxing all floors manually or by machine. Work is performed under the guidance of the Buildings and Grounds Supervisor. Salary Information Starting pay is $16.67/ hr. These positions are in the 03/08 pay schedule/range. A 12-month probation will be required. For current permanent state employees, pay will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan. Job Details In order to gain access to the military facilities and to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled, DMA will conduct a comprehensive background check. In addition, the position requires a Common Access Card (CAC). A CAC requires successful completion of a Department of Defense investigation which is an additional more in-depth federal background check, for gaining access to federal computer systems, restricted locations, or classified information. Must possess or be eligible to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license as a condition of continued employment. The Department of Military Affairs does not sponsor work visas at the time of hire or anytime during employment. All persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and complete the required Employment Eligibility Form I-9. This is a State of Wisconsin Civil Service position. The DMA does not require current or previous military experience. All new permanent, project, and limited term employees will be required to report to Joint Force Headquarters (JFHQ) in Madison on the Monday of their first week of employment for the New Employee Orientation (NEO) program. Additional information will be sent to the new employees and their supervisors on the Tuesday prior to NEO. Qualifications Qualified candidates must have the ability to bend, stoop, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 pounds, with or without a reasonable accommodation.
