Wood Finisher

Mack Custom Woodworking is seeking an experienced Wood Finisher for a full-time position in our Shokan shop. This role involves a several-month transition period working alongside our retiring department head of 40 years to master our custom processes before taking over the department's operations at the end of the year.

The Role:

This is a shop-based position reporting directly to the Shop Foreman. You will be responsible for the final aesthetic and protective quality of all architectural millwork leaving the facility.

Key Responsibilities:

Color & Stain Work:

Execute custom color matching and stain formulas to meet project specifications.

Finishing:

Spray, paints, and application of 2k polyurethane utilizing airless Kremlin equipment in a modern booth with an air make up system.

Shop Drawings:

Follow millwork shop drawings for finish callouts and basic assembly requirements.

Equipment & Space:

Maintain spray equipment; keep the finishing area clear and organized.

Inventory:

Monitor supply levels and submit material order requests as needed to maintain workflow.

Shop Support:

Maintain productivity by assisting with basic hardware mounting (drawer slides/hinges) during open time.

Qualifications:

Professional Experience:

Proven background in high-end wood finishing or custom cabinetry preferred. Applicants from other industries (such as high-end automotive) who are comfortable with spray-to-spec requirements will also be considered

Physical Ability:

Regularly lift and move millwork (mostly 10-50 lbs; occasionally upwards of 80 lbs).

Reliability:

Consistent attendance for a 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM shift is mandatory.

Pay:

Competitive rate based on experience. ($26-$35 / hr. range)
