10 Continuing education opportunities? Yes Externs are encouraged to attend local conferences and surgical grand rounds through Yale University School of Medicine, Yale New Haven Hospital, and the greater audiology community.Start Date:
May 31, 2027 Expected hours/days a week: 40 Travel to satellite centers required? Yes Audiology externs will be splitting their clinical experience between our New Haven and Milford locations. There will be opportunities for externs to provide diagnostic services with supervising audiologists in our Old Saybrook, Cornell-Scott Hill Health Center, and Greenwich locations as desired.Local students preferred:

Yes Does the externship site provide orientation to quality assessment, quality assurance and quality improvement? Yes Externship site expects the extern to have mastered these skills before they begin their clinical externship:- Take a complete case history
- Strong report-writing skills
- Competently perform all audiologic evaluations with masking when applicable
- Critically think about each case presented
- Solid foundation in hearing aids, cochlear implants, and osseointegrated devices
- Good counseling skills for patients of all ages & backgrounds
- Working knowledge of vestibular and neurodiagnostic evaluations Externship site expects the extern to learn/demonstrate these skills during their clinical externship:
- Proficiency in report writing
- Independently perform all diagnostic evaluations
- Critically thinking about each case presented
- Proficiency in counseling, selection, and fitting of hearing aids, cochlear implants and bone anchored devices
- Independently perform a full vestibular evaluation
