Yard Jockey

Job Overview We are seeking a reliable and experienced Yard Jockey to efficiently move and position trailers within our facility. This role is essential for maintaining smooth operations in our logistics and warehouse environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial driving, with experience handling various trailer types, including refrigerated. The Yard Jockey will be responsible for safely maneuvering tractor-trailers and other freight vehicles to designated areas, ensuring timely loading and unloading processes. Responsibilities Safely operate yard tractor to move trailers within the yard or loading docks Attach and detach trailers from tractors, ensuring secure connections Conduct pre-trip inspections on vehicles to ensure safety and compliance with regulations Maintain accurate records of trailer movements and locations Coordinate with warehouse staff to ensure trailers are positioned correctly for loading or unloading Follow all safety protocols, including proper handling of refrigerated trailers. Skills Proven experience in truck driving, commercial driving, or as a delivery driver Familiarity with tractor-trailers Experience handling refrigerated trailers. Strong knowledge of freight handling, load & unload procedures. Excellent maneuvering skills for trailer positioning within tight yard spaces Good communication skills for coordination with team members and dispatchers Attention to safety protocols and vehicle maintenance standards This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment requiring precision driving skills and attention to safety. Candidates should be comfortable operating various types of freight vehicles and possess the necessary commercial driving experience.

Pay:

$28.00 - $30.00 per hour
