20-25/week afterschool (Non-Exempt)
BASIC JOB FUNCTION
The Youth Development Professional (YDP) staff are the mentors for the youth of our community who deliver or assist in the implementation of programs and activities, including programs that focus on academic achievement, healthy lifestyles and good character and citizenship. The YDP works under the direction of the Club Unit Director. As a YDP you are the front line with members and creating that positive impact and influence to help them grow into amazing leaders of tomorrow!
Key Roles:
  • Serve as a positive role model and mentor to Club youth.
  • Establish relationships conducive to youth growth and development.
  • Develop fun and engaging programs aligned with BGCA programs and youth interests.
  • Stimulate interest through personal engagement, skilled instruction, events, contests, etc.
  • Monitor and engage with club youth.
  • Ensure program areas are clean, orderly, and safe.
  • Maintain inventory of necessary supplies.
  • Participate in professional development as required.
  • Maintain close contact with Unit Director & other YDP staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
  • Activities involve active engagement during educational and recreational programming.
  • Physical requirements include walking and standing for long periods of time, lifting up to 50 lbs.

Education/Experience Requirement:
  • High School diploma or GED required; college degree encouraged.
  • Preferred 1-year experience in youth development.
  • Ability to pass criminal background check per BGCA requirement.
Skills/Knowledge Required:
  • Energetic, creative, and ethical individual.
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Understanding of youth needs and interests.
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage behavior positively.
  • Maintain a positive and cooperative attitude.
  • CPR and First Aid certification required within 90 days of employment.
  • Ability to operate Club vehicles safely.
