What You'll Do:
Perform a full range of routine and complex laboratory procedures, including blood banking, chemistry, microbiology, hematology, immunology, and urinalysis. Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain advanced laboratory instruments and equipment. Ensure accuracy and quality control in all testing procedures, with a focus on transfusion services. Collaborate with healthcare teams to deliver timely and reliable results to support patient care. Engage in continuous process improvement, development of new testing protocols, and cross-training in various lab sections. Handle patient specimens with care, including collection and proper handling, adhering to safety standards. Maintain certifications and comply with all regulatory requirements, including CLIA and accreditation standards.Required Skills:
Bachelor's Degree or higher in a biological, chemical, physical, or clinical laboratory science, or equivalent training. Valid Certification for MT, MLS, CLS, or MLT from ASCP, AMT, AAB, or HEW/HHS. Demonstrated excellence in blood banking (transfusion service) with solid technical skills. Ability to operate complex laboratory instruments and troubleshoot issues efficiently. Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and commitment to quality. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. Nice toHave Skills:
Additional certifications such as SBB (Specialist in Blood Banking) are a plus but not required. Experience working in diverse clinical settings or previous travel or locum roles. Knowledge of Laboratory Information Systems and electronic health records. Bilingual abilities or cultural competence to serve diverse patient populations.Preferred Education and Experience:
Minimum of one year of approved clinical laboratory experience, including rotation through major lab sections, or new graduates with Board Certification pending. Previous work within accredited laboratories meeting CLIA and other regulatory standards.Other Requirements:
Must have exceptional transfusion service skills and blood banking expertise. Availability to work Saturday through Monday, 6:00 AM - 7:30 PM. Willingness to travel and adapt to various healthcare environments. Current certifications maintained and kept up-to-date.
