Job Description

Summary - The ideal candidate will have experience in plastics injection molding and possess knowledge of precision measuring instruments. Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Tends machines that punch, cut, shape, and bend metal and/or plastics by performing the following tasks: Must be able to read and understand job books for individual plastic parts used in production so as to meet customer specifications. Utilize various gauges and calibration equipment, when required. Set stops or guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule, or template. Positions workpiece against stops/guides or aligns layout marks with die or blade. Pushes button or depresses pedal to activate press/machine. Observes press operation to detect workpiece defects or press malfunctions, i.e., splay, nonfill, and flash. Clip and/or trim parts, when required. Measures workpiece dimensions to determine accuracy of press operation. Stack, mark, pack, and transport finished workpieces. Utilization of scales to weigh boxes and count parts by box weight and part weight. Label boxes with appropriate information, lot number, box quantity, date, part number, and router as stated in the job book. Complete all required production paperwork for each job. Maintain workspaces for cleanliness and organization, leaving the space ready for the next shift. Perform other duties as requested/assigned.

Attendance/Punctuality:
Consistently arrive on time and ready to work. Education and/or Experience High School diploma or general education degree (GED), One to three months related experience and/or training, Or equivalent combination of education and experience. Language Skills Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations to other employees of the organization. English required; bi-lingual Spanish a plus. Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional variables. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Regularly required to stand, walk, or sit. Use hands to finger, handle, or feel. Reach with hands and arms. Climb or balance. Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Talk, hear, and smell. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level is usually moderate. Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
