Job Description
Position Summary The Part-Time Collections Specialist is responsible for assisting in the management of delinquent accounts while maintaining positive member relationships. This role focuses on contacting members regarding overdue payments, negotiating repayment solutions, and ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and credit union policies. Key Responsibilities Contact members via phone, email, and written correspondence regarding past-due accounts Review delinquent accounts and determine appropriate collection actions Negotiate payment arrangements and repayment plans with members Document all collection activities accurately in the system Monitor accounts to ensure adherence to agreed payment terms Provide excellent member service while balancing collection objectives Educate members on financial responsibilities and available solutions Collaborate with internal departments to resolve account issues Ensure compliance with federal, state, and credit union regulations (e.g., FDCPA guidelines) Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required Previous experience in collections, banking, or customer service preferred Strong communication and negotiation skills Ability to handle sensitive financial situations with professionalism and empathy Basic computer skills and familiarity with financial systems Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills Work Schedule Part-time (typically 20-25 hours per week) Flexible schedule may INCLUDE mornings or afternoons Key Competencies Customer service mindset Problem-solving and conflict resolution Confidentiality and integrity Time management and reliability Physical & Work Environment Primarily office-based Prolonged periods of sitting and computer use Equal Opportunity Employer Statement Valdosta Teachers Federal Credit Union is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
