This position is ideal for someone who is confident managing customer accounts, resolving outstanding balances, and maintaining clear communication across a high-volume collections environment. The role is fully in-office and offers an opportunity to contribute to both consumer and commercial collections efforts while supporting long-term account health.
Responsibilities:
Manage a portfolio of consumer and commercial accounts to follow up on overdue balances and secure timely payment. Contact customers by phone and email to discuss past-due invoices, clarify account status, and negotiate appropriate repayment arrangements. Review billing records and account activity to identify discrepancies, research issues, and support accurate collection efforts. Maintain detailed documentation of collection activity, payment commitments, disputes, and account resolutions in internal records. Collaborate with team members and leadership to prioritize aging accounts and improve overall recovery performance. Monitor payment trends and escalate complex or unresolved accounts when additional action is needed. Support billing and collections workflows by ensuring follow-up tasks are completed accurately and within established timelines. Experience handling collections for consumer, commercial, or mixed account portfolios. Working knowledge of credit and collections practices, including account follow-up and payment resolution. Ability to communicate professionally and confidently with customers regarding outstanding balances. Familiarity with billing-related collection processes and account reconciliation. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple accounts and deadlines effectively. Proficiency in documenting account activity and maintaining accurate records. Availability to work onsite in Fairfax, Virginia.
