Elevate Our Revenue Cycle Operations At Active Care Physical Therapy, our clinical team delivers exceptional patient care and maintains a high volume of treatments. We are seeking a tenacious, detail-obsessed Senior Collections & Billing Specialist to optimize our revenue cycle, streamline collection velocity, and bring structural accountability to our billing workflow. We need a proactive financial operator who will hold cleared payments to a 24-hour turnaround, audit coding structures, aggressively appeal denied claims, and collaborate directly with our provider team to ensure clinical documentation matches our billing potential. If you thrive on clean ledgers, high collection efficiency, and clearing out aged A/R, this is your domain. Key Responsibilities 24-
Hour Payment Posting & Reconciliation:
Post insurance and patient payments daily with 100% accuracy. Maintain a zero-backlog standard.
Clearinghouse & Scrubbing Management:
Identify, correct, and re-submit clearinghouse rejections instantly to maintain a >98% first-pass clean claim rate.
Denials & Appeals Mastery:
Track, analyze, and appeal denied claims (authorizations, medical necessity, KX modifiers, coding disputes) until paid.
CPT Code Optimization & Provider Normalization:
Audit unit billing per visit across all providers (CPT code mix, timed vs. untimed procedures, 8-minute rule compliance). Help normalize and coach clinicians to maximize legitimate billable revenue per visit.
Clinical Accountability Partnering:
Work directly alongside our PT staff (including clinic owners and associate PTs) to ensure clinical notes, charts, and appeal documentation are completed on time.
Patient & Insurance A/R Cleanups:
Work the 30/60/90+ day aging buckets systematically to optimize our overall net realization rate.
Qualifications & Requirements:
3+
Years of Outpatient Physical Therapy Billing Experience:
Deep knowledge of CPT coding, 8-minute rule application, unit optimization, modifiers, and commercial/Medicare guidelines.
Relentless Appeals Record:
Proven track record of overturning claim denials and securing payments that third-party vendors often abandon.
EHR & Billing System Proficiency:
Deep expertise in PT billing platforms, clearinghouses, and electronic remittance advice (ERA)/EOB posting.
Uncompromising Accountability:
Strong verbal communication skills to hold providers accountable for missing signatures or delayed appeal inputs.
Compensation & Benefits Competitive Salary:
$32.00 - $40.00 / hour ($66,000 - $83,000 / year base depending on experience).
