Job Description

Position Summary The Payment Posting Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely posting of payments for hospital facility (UB-04) and professional (CMS-1500) claims. This role ensures payments, contractual adjustments, denials, and patient responsibility balances are applied correctly to maintain clean accounts receivable and support revenue integrity. Key Responsibilities Post electronic remittance advices (ERAs) and manual EOB payments for facility and professional claims. Apply contractual adjustments based on payer agreements. Reconcile daily payment batches with bank deposits and clearinghouse totals. Post payments for facility services (inpatient, outpatient, emergency, ancillary) and professional claims at the
CPT/HCPCS
level. Process secondary and tertiary payer payments . Review
CARC/RARC
codes , identify denials or underpayments, and route accounts for follow-up. Maintain accurate posting records and support audit and compliance requirements . Assist with revenue cycle process improvements when needed. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in business, accounting, or healthcare administration preferred. 1-2 years of revenue cycle experience (billing, collections, or payment posting) preferred. Knowledge of medical billing, payer contracts, EOBs, CPT/ICD-10 coding, and ERA processing . Familiarity with EHR/billing systems and Microsoft Office . Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment . Understanding of HIPAA and healthcare compliance standards . Physical Requirements Primarily sedentary with frequent computer use; occasional standing, walking, and lifting up to 10 pounds.
