Job Description
JOB OVERVIEW
Oversees daily billing operations which include preparing, submitting, and following up on insurance claims to ensure accurate and timely reimbursement for services provided.Clinic Operating Hours:
Mon-Fri 8:00-5:00 ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO
- Coordinate and support daily billing operations within the clinic
- Review coded patient encounters to ensure accuracy prior to claim submission
- Prepare and submit claims to insurance carriers as required
- Verify patient insurance information and eligibility
- Ensure claims include appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes
- Post insurance payments, adjustments, and patient payments into the billing system
- Reconcile payments and ensure proper allocation to patient accounts
- Identify and resolve discrepancies in payment postings
- Review rejected or denied claims to determine the cause of denial
- Correct claims and resubmit as necessary
- Communicate with insurance carriers regarding claim status and payment issues
- Monitor aging reports and follow up on outstanding claims
- Generate patient statements and respond to patient billing inquiries
- Participate in internal audits to ensure billing accuracy and compliance
- Maintain compliance with billing guidelines and payer regulations
- Protect patient information in accordance with HIPAA
- Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma/GED
- Associate's degree in medical billing, healthcare administration, or related field (preferred)
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or equivalent certification (preferred)
- 2+ years of experience in medical billing, revenue cycle operations, or similar healthcare role (preferred)
SKILLS:
- Knowledge of medical billing procedures and insurance claim processes
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to analyze billing reports and resolve reimbursement issues
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, providers, and insurance representatives
- Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) and medical billing software
