Duties Review clinical documentation and assign accurate CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes based on services rendered Submit electronic and paper claims to Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial payers in accordance with payer guidelines Monitor claim status, resolve denials, and follow up on unpaid or rejected claims Collaborate with providers and clinical staff to clarify documentation and ensure coding accuracy Verify patient insurance eligibility, benefits, and authorization requirements as needed Audit billing records for compliance with HIPAA, CMS, and internal protocols Generate and analyze billing reports to identify trends, errors, and opportunities for improvement Respond to patient inquiries regarding billing, insurance coverage, and account balances Support front office and check-out staff with coding-related training and documentation workflows Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to revenue cycle performance and patient satisfaction Stay current with updates in medical coding guidelines, health insurance policies, and regulatory requirements affecting billing practices. Minimum 3-5 years of experience in medical billing and coding, preferably in outpatient or primary care settings Certification in medical coding (e.g., CPC, CCS, or equivalent) strongly preferred Proficiency in EMR systems, preferably AthenaOne Strong understanding of Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial insurance billing requirements Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and communication abilities Bilingual Spanish/Creole preferred Familiarity with
