Job Description

Local clinic is looking for a Healthcare Billing Specialist to help our growing facility. Verify accuracy of billing data and revise any errors. Prepare itemized statements, bills, or invoices and record amounts due for items purchased or services rendered. Post stop-payment notices to prevent payment of protested checks. Keep records of invoices and support documents. Perform bookkeeping work, including posting data or keeping other records concerning costs of services. Contact customers to obtain or relay account information. Review documents, such as claims, referral orders. Consult sources, such as manuals, or insurance company representatives, to determine specific charges or information such as rules, or regulations. Update manuals when rates, rules, or regulations are amended. Answer inquiries regarding billing claims and patient invoices. Create billing documents, shipping labels, credit memorandums, or credit forms. Perform general administrative tasks, such as answering telephones, Return checks to customers or retrieve checks returned to customers in error, adjusting accounts and answering inquiries about errors as necessary.
Qualifications:
A minimum of 3 years of healthcare office experience, and/or 3 years' experience in medical billing / coding / collections (required) Working knowledge of CPT-4 and ICD-10 coding required. CPC Preferred. Functional knowledge of Explanation of Benefits (EOB's) and understanding of copays, coinsurance, deductibles and denial codes required. Proficient customer service skills. Working knowledge of MS Office and databases. BA in business administration, business management (preferred)
