Job Description

Medical Billing Specialist- Dermatology Brevard Skin and Cancer Center has been a cornerstone of dermatological care in Brevard County for over 50 years. Our team is dedicated to delivering exceptional service and fostering a fun, collaborative workplace culture. We are seeking a detailed-oriented and proactive Medical Billing, Eligibility, Charge Entry and Accounts Receivable (AR) Specialist to join our team. This position is responsible for managing insurance claims, collections, payment posting, and account follow- up activities to ensure accurate and timely reimbursement. The ideal candidate will have experience in medical billing and accounts receivable, strong problem-solving skills, and a commitment to excellent patient and customer service.
Responsibilities :
Submit and track insurance claims, ensuring accuracy and compliance with payer guidelines. Follow up on unpaid, denied, or underpaid claims and submit appeals as necessary. Post and reconcile insurance and patient payments accurately and timely. Maintain AR aging reports and perform follow-up on outstanding balances. Contact insurance companies and utilize online portals to verify patient insurance coverage and benefits. Enter and update patient insurance information in the EMR system, ensuring data accuracy. Enter CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes accurately for medical procedures and diagnoses. Prepare and submit corrected claims as needed to facilitate reimbursement. Communicate with insurance carriers, healthcare providers, and patients to resolve billing discrepancies. Address patient inquiries regarding insurance coverage, billing status, balances and payment options. Ensure compliance with HIPAA, insurance regulations, and healthcare billing standards. Collaborate with front office staff, providers, and billing personnel to improve revenue cycle efficiency. Performs other related duties as needed and assigned Ability to travel to any of our five locations located between Palm Bay and Titusville, as needed.
Qualifications :
Required High school diploma or equivalent required. Preferred 1-2 years of experience in medical billing, eligibility, charge entry, and accounts receivable. However, will train the right candidate. Strong knowledge of insurance policies, claims processing, eligibility requirements, and reimbursement guidelines. Working knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding. Experience with EMR/HER systems; Allscripts experience preferred. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Excellent customer service and communication skills Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated understanding of HIPAA, compliance requirements, and OSHA regulations. Ability to work professional with patients, providers, and co-workers. Positive attitude and strong team-oriented mindset. Preferred Medical billing and coding certification (CPC, CPB, or equivalent) Dermatology billing experience. Experience working in a private practice setting. Knowledge of healthcare revenue cycle management and accounts receivable processes.
