Job Description
Billing & Pre-Registration Specialist (MEDBILL) #KONA_INDEED We're seeking a Billing & Pre-Registration Specialist to join a busy medical team on a temporary full-time assignment. If you're detail-oriented, enjoy helping patients, and have experience with medical billing or insurance verification, we'd love to hear from you! In this role, you'll help create a positive patient experience by ensuring accurate registration, verifying insurance coverage, processing payments, and supporting billing operations. Hours Full-time, Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm Location Keauhou, Big Island Pay $27 an hour Responsibilities Contact patients to obtain and verify demographic and insurance information before appointments Verify insurance eligibility and update patient records Assist patients with online portal access and new patient paperwork Process patient payments and maintain accurate billing records Generate and review billing statements Follow up with patients regarding outstanding balances and payment arrangements Review delinquent accounts and escalate issues as needed Address registration and insurance-related billing denials Maintain accurate documentation in electronic medical record and billing systems Respond to work queues and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner Provide exceptional customer service while maintaining HIPAA compliance Assist with additional front office and revenue cycle duties as needed Qualifications High school diploma or GED required Previous experience in a healthcare or medical office preferred Knowledge of medical billing, insurance verification, and healthcare reimbursement processes preferred Billing and/or coding certification is a plus Strong computer, typing, and phone skills Excellent communication and customer service abilities Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and remain professional in a fast-paced environment Ability to comply with a pre-employment drug test and State and Federal background check
