Job Overview The Billing Specialist is responsible for reviewing service activity and applying customer-specific billing requirements to ensure accurate and timely billing. This position develops a strong understanding of assigned customer accounts, contracts, service coverage, rates, and billing requirements to determine the appropriate billing treatment for service activity. The Billing Specialist works closely with internal departments to research and resolve billing questions, discrepancies, and account-related issues. Key Responsibilities Review daily service activity and ensure service calls are accurately classified and billed. Develop and maintain knowledge of assigned customer accounts, contracts, service coverage, billing requirements, and rates. Review service activity to determine whether services are in scope or out of scope based on customer contracts and billing requirements. Apply customer-specific billing rules and make appropriate billing decisions based on contract requirements. Research and resolve billing discrepancies, service-call questions, and account-related issues. Review reports to identify potential billing discrepancies, missed billing opportunities, or unusual activity. Ensure service activity is reviewed accurately and timely to support the billing cycle. Maintain accurate customer account and billing information. Prepare ad hoc and customer-specific billing reports as requested. Communicate with internal departments regarding billing requirements, service activity, and account-specific questions. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned. Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent required. 4+ years of experience in billing, accounts receivable, accounting operations, service billing, or a related field preferred. Strong attention to detail and ability to review and interpret detailed service and billing information. Ability to understand and apply customer contracts, billing terms, and service requirements. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Willingness and ability to learn customer-specific billing requirements and processes. Experience with NetSuite or other enterprise billing systems preferred. Experience with Service Center or similar service management systems preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and other Microsoft Office applications. Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Ability to work independently and effectively in a team environment. Demonstrated initiative, sense of urgency, and commitment to accuracy and quality.
