The Medical Billing Specialist is responsible for medical billing functions including census reconciliation, insurance verification, claims processing, collections, resident trust fund management, account adjustments, and providing financial guidance to residents and families. Key Responsibilities Manage daily medical billing activities, insurance claims, and account follow-up. Reconcile daily census and maintain billing records and spreadsheets. Verify secondary insurance coverage and assist with authorization processes. Process patient statements, collections, write-offs, refunds, and Medicaid bad debt. Submit and track co-insurance claims, denials, and short pays. Assist with Medicaid applications and eligibility verification. Manage resident trust fund deposits and distributions. Ensure admission documentation and financial agreements are complete. Communicate with residents and families regarding financial obligations. Support month-end close activities and ancillary charge entry. Provide backup support for Medicare and Medicaid billing, insurance case management, bookkeeping, and reception functions. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Medical Billing Role High School Diploma or GED required. Minimum two years of medical billing , healthcare business office, or insurance billing experience preferred. Knowledge of accounts receivable, insurance authorization, appeals, and collection processes. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word. Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Physical Requirements Medical Billing Role Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, and bending. Ability to work in a healthcare environment with exposure to infectious conditions (PPE provided).
