Responsibilities also include reconciling practice revenue, processing bank deposits, patient refunds and answering patient phone calls. Experience with billing software and payment reconciliations is preferred. The Billing Specialist must be familiar with insurance plans, basic coding and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Position also includes managing a large volume of Accounts Receivable. Excellent phone skills and etiquette is required to answer a large volume of patient phone calls. Accuracy and attention to detail is necessary for success in this position. Responsibilities Process and verify payments received from patients and insurance companies, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Manage cash handling procedures, including balancing daily cash drawers and maintaining secure transaction records. Prepare and submit healthcare claims using billing software, ensuring compliance with coding standards such as CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10 (International Classification of Diseases), and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group). Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through medical collection efforts, working diligently to resolve discrepancies. Utilize EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems to access patient information and update billing records efficiently. Maintain thorough documentation of all billing activities, medical coding, and customer interactions to support audit readiness and compliance. Manage all patient Accounts Receivable and Collections. Maintain strict confidentiality of all patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations and organizational policies Skills & Experience Strong knowledge of healthcare claims management, including familiarity with health insurance policies and reimbursement procedures. Proficiency in medical coding systems such as
CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, ICD
coding, and DRG classifications. Experience with billing software applications (Epic preferred) and Microsoft Office tools for documentation and reporting. Excellent customer service skills to address patient inquiries professionally and empathetically. Ability to navigate EMR/EHR systems confidently while maintaining accuracy in data entry. Solid understanding of medical terminology, medical records management, and healthcare regulations related to billing. Effective communication skills to collaborate with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients for smooth financial operations. 2+ years of relevant experience preferred. Candidates must possess skills to work independently as well as actively work with other Billing staff to resolve problems, cover other tasks and reach goals collectively. A willingness to learn billing software and incorporate new ideas and/or automation to promote efficiency and growth in the position is preferred.
Pay:
$26.00 - $30.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
