Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable orthopedic Medical Biller to join our healthcare team, including 3 orthopedic surgeons. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing billing processes from start to finish, ensure accurate coding, and articulate any concerns or updates professionally to the providers . We would like to see a self driven individual who can work well alone or in the presence of a peer. The candidate should keep the practice up to date on new billing policies and have knowledge of the ever changing world of insurance. Duties Process and submit medical billing claims to insurance companies and patients. Utilize coding systems, including ICD-10, to ensure accurate representation of diagnoses and procedures. Review patient records for completeness and accuracy before billing. Handle medical collections by following up on unpaid claims and communicating with patients regarding their accounts. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology, billing regulations, and coding practices. Collaborate with healthcare providers to resolve discrepancies in patient records or billing issues. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations regarding patient confidentiality and data security. Experience Proven experience in medical billing and coding is required Familiarity with Cerner and/or AllScripts practice management is preferred but not required. Strong understanding of medical terminology and coding guidelines. Experience with medical collections processes. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to communicate effectively with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare staff.
