Experienced Dental Insurance & Billing Coordinator - 5+ Years Required Bass & Watson Family Dental | Apex, NC We are looking for an experienced Dental Insurance & Billing Coordinator who already knows this job and can step into the role with minimal training. A minimum of 5 years of hands-on dental insurance and billing experience is required. This is not an entry-level front desk position, and general medical billing or administrative experience does not substitute for dental insurance experience. If you are comfortable reviewing EOBs, obtaining and interpreting PTEs, working an insurance aging report, following up on unpaid claims, correcting rejected claims, handling denials and appeals, and determining why a claim was paid differently than expected, we would like to talk with you. What You'll Be Responsible For You will take ownership of the insurance and billing side of our practice, including: Verifying dental benefits and obtaining detailed PTEs/pre-treatment estimates Accurately entering insurance benefits, limitations, frequencies, deductibles, maximums, and coverage percentages Reviewing EOBs and posting insurance payments accurately Understanding COB , downgrades/alternate benefits, frequency limitations, missing-tooth clauses, waiting periods, and other common plan limitations Submitting clean dental claims with the appropriate narratives, radiographs, intraoral photos, perio charting, and other attachments Following up on outstanding and unpaid claims Working the insurance aging report consistently and keeping aging under control Researching underpayments and discrepancies between expected and actual insurance payments Correcting rejected claims and resubmitting them promptly Managing denials, appeals, and requests for additional information Communicating with insurance carriers regarding claim status, benefits, and payment issues Identifying when a claim has stalled and knowing what needs to happen next Helping ensure patient estimates are based on the best insurance information available Maintaining accurate insurance notes and documentation in the patient account You Should Already Know How To Do This We are specifically looking for someone with at least 5 years of recent dental insurance/billing experience who can confidently answer questions such as: Why didn't this claim pay? Was the procedure downgraded? Has the deductible been met? Is there a frequency limitation? Is COB affecting payment? What documentation is the carrier asking for? Why is this claim still sitting in insurance aging? Should this be corrected and resubmitted, appealed, or followed up on? If those are routine questions in your current or previous role, you may be exactly who we're looking for. Required Experience 5+ years of dental insurance and billing experience is required.
