Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Medical Billing and Coding Specialist/Office Coordinator to join our healthcare team. This vital role combines the expertise of medical coding with efficient office coordination to ensure seamless revenue cycle management. You will be responsible for accurately coding medical procedures and diagnoses, managing insurance claims, and maintaining organized medical records. Your proactive approach will support the financial health of the practice while providing exceptional service to patients and providers alike. Responsibilities Accurately assign and review ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, and DRG codes for inpatient and outpatient services in accordance with medical coding guidelines. Process insurance claims using billing software, ensuring timely submission and follow-up on unpaid or denied claims. Manage electronic health record (EHR) systems for billing and coding purposes, maintaining precise and up-to-date medical records. Verify patient insurance coverage, explain benefits, and facilitate third-party billing to optimize revenue cycle management. Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure proper documentation aligns with coding requirements for accurate reimbursement. Conduct medical collection activities by following up on outstanding balances, resolving billing discrepancies, and ensuring compliance with health insurance claim processing standards. Maintain comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology, coding guidelines, and regulations related to ICD coding, CPT coding, and coding for inpatient services. Requirements Proven experience in medical office administration with a focus on billing, coding, or revenue cycle management. Strong understanding of
ICD-9/ICD-10
codes, CPT codes, DRG classifications, and medical coding guidelines. Familiarity with billing software platforms and electronic health record (EHR/EHR) systems used in healthcare settings. Knowledge of health insurance policies, claim processing procedures, and third-party payer requirements. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in managing medical records and billing documentation. Ability to interpret complex medical terminology accurately and apply appropriate coding standards. Prior experience working with electronic health record (EHR) management for billing and coding is highly preferred.
