Key Responsibilities Accurately post insurance payments, including electronic and paper payments, as well as applicable adjustments. Apply knowledge of medical billing practices, CPT, ICD, and HCPCS codes to support accurate claim and account processing. Review and work insurance claim denials to ensure claims are processed accurately and appropriately. Follow up on delinquent insurance payments and outstanding reimbursement. Review transaction denials and collaborate with Eagle Business Services staff and/or practice sites to re-file charges when appropriate. Review payer policies, explanations of benefits (EOBs), and other billing documentation for accuracy and completeness, paying close attention to detail. Assist patients with insurance-related questions, including providing accurate explanations of how their insurance processed claims. Demonstrate a strong understanding of healthcare insurance and research all necessary information to facilitate reimbursement for charges. Maintain effective relationships with assigned payers to facilitate timely resolution of issues and reimbursement of claims. Prepare and maintain records in accordance with established procedures and detailed instructions. Accurately and concisely document all claims and/or account activity. Use computer systems and calculators effectively to complete assigned billing and reimbursement responsibilities. Communicate clearly and professionally with patients, coworkers, providers, Eagle Business Services staff, payer representatives, and other individuals. Provide pleasant, helpful, and professional telephone and customer service to patients and others. Participate in educational activities, meetings, and professional development opportunities as required. Demonstrate respect, courtesy, professionalism, and advocacy in all interactions with patients, coworkers, providers, and other individuals. Maintain a positive, team-oriented attitude and demonstrate a willingness to work effectively with coworkers and assist where and whenever needed. Maintain clear, legible, and professional written documentation using proper grammar and sentence structure.
