Job Description

Rural Health Group is seeking a Billing Administrative Assistant for a full-time position in our Billing department. The position will be located at our Finance office in Roanoke Rapids, NC. The Billing Administrative Assistant provides administrative and clerical support to the Billing Department to ensure accurate, timely, and organized processing of billing-related information. This position is responsible for data entry, document preparation, record maintenance, scanning, filing, and other administrative functions that support the billing team. The Billing Administrative Assistant works closely with the billing staff and other departments to obtain, organize, and maintain information needed for efficient billing operations. Rural Health Group, Inc. (RHG) is a well-established 501(c)3 non-profit Federally Qualified Health Center with roots going back 40+ years, now with multiple locations across northeastern North Carolina. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Provides daily administrative and clerical support to the Billing Department Enters and maintains billing-related information accurately in the organizations electronic systems Reviews documents for completeness and accuracy and identifies missing or incorrect information for follow-up Scans, uploads, indexes and maintains billing-related documents and records Assists with maintaining accurate patient and insurance documentation as directed Performs routine data entry and updates information in applicable billing and practice management systems Assists with sorting, distributing and processing incoming billing-related correspondence, reports, and documentation Assists with maintaining departmental spreadsheets, logs, tracking reports and other administrative records Provides administrative support for audits, record requests, and other billing department projects Communicates with internal departments to obtain missing documentation or information needed to support billing processes Handles confidential patient, financial, and organizational information in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policies Maintains and organized and professional work environment Performs other administrative duties and special projects as assigned Successful candidate must demonstrate the Rural Health Group Core Competencies, which include: Good Judgment Communication/Customer Service/Teamwork Passion Honesty Responsibility Job-Specific Skill Set - including knowledge, skills, and ability to fulfill the responsibilities of a Medical Biller
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience High school diploma or GED required Previous administrative, clerical, data-entry, healthcare, medical office, or billing-related experience preferred Experience working in a healthcare or medical office environment preferred Experience with electronic medical records, practice management systems, or other healthcare information systems preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong attention to detail and accuracy Ability to perform repetitive data-entry and administrative tasks while maintaining a high level of accuracy Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks and meet established deadlines Basic understanding of medical billing terminology preferred Basic computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Outlook Ability to learn and effectively use electronic health records, practice management and billing systems Strong organizational and time-management skills Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with patients, coworkers, and other departments Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive patient and financial information Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team Physical & Work Requirements Primarily office-based work requiring extended periods of sitting and computer use Ability to communicate effectively by telephone, email and in person Ability to occasionally lift, carry, or move office supplies and files Regular use of computers, telephones, scanners, printers, and other standard office equipment Reporting Relationship Reports to the Billing Manager or other designated Billing Department supervisor Scope of Responsbility The Billing Administrative Assistant is a support position within the Billing Department. The position assists billing staff by ensuring that billing-related information and documentation and accurately entered, organized, maintained, and readily available. Responsibility for claim submission, insurance follow-up, denial management, accounts receivable management and other full-cycle billing activities remains with designated billing staff. EOE.
