Job Description

The Axel Group is seeking an experienced Billing Associate / Billing Specialist to join our client's accounting team. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional with construction billing and AIA billing experience to join an established company and play an important role in managing customer invoicing and accounts receivable. AIA billing experience is required. Candidates should have a minimum of 3 years of experience with construction invoicing, AIA billing, progress billing, customer billing, accounts receivable, and payment processing. Responsibilities Manage all customer invoicing and construction billing , including: Monthly contract billing Time & Materials (T&M) billing AIA billing Progress billing Construction invoices Customer invoices Prepare and process AIA billing forms and pay applications , including
AIA G702/G703
, when applicable Review contracts, purchase orders, and project documentation to ensure accurate billing Track Schedules of Values (SOV) , retainage, change orders, and billing adjustments Post customer payments into the accounting system and apply payments to the appropriate invoices Monitor Accounts Receivable (AR) balances and outstanding invoices Perform collections activities for overdue customer accounts through phone calls, emails, and other professional correspondence Maintain accurate customer account records and billing documentation Track and request retainage releases at the appropriate time for applicable projects and accounts Research and resolve customer billing questions, discrepancies, and payment issues Communicate with customers, project managers, project teams, and internal accounting personnel regarding billing and payment matters Assist with construction accounting, project accounting, accounts receivable, invoicing, and other accounting functions as needed Maintain accurate records and ensure invoices are issued in accordance with customer contracts and billing requirements Perform other administrative and accounting duties as assigned by the Accounts Receivable Manager Requirements 3+ years of experience in construction billing, customer invoicing, accounts receivable, or construction accounting
Required:
Hands-on AIA billing experience Experience with AIA invoices, AIA G702/G703, progress billing, pay applications, and construction contracts Understanding of retainage, Schedules of Values (SOV), change orders, and contract billing Experience handling customer invoicing and Accounts Receivable (AR) Experience with collections, payment posting, cash application, and account reconciliation Strong customer service skills with professional email and telephone etiquette Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple invoices, projects, accounts, and deadlines Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting/ERP software Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel Associate's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field is preferred but not required Preferred Background Candidates with experience as a Billing Associate, Billing Specialist, Billing Coordinator, Construction Billing Specialist, AIA Billing Specialist, Construction Accountant, Project Accountant, Accounts Receivable Specialist, AR Specialist, Accounting Coordinator, or Project Billing Coordinator are encouraged to apply. Experience working for a general contractor, subcontractor, construction company, engineering firm, commercial contractor, civil contractor, specialty contractor, or construction management company is highly preferred.
Compensation Salary:
Up to $85,000 annually , depending on experience and qualifications.
