This position is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely Medicaid billing for our Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (ICF/IID). The ideal candidate is experienced in Medicaid billing, enjoys problem-solving, and is committed to ensuring claims are processed efficiently so services are reimbursed accurately and on time. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Prepare, review, and submit Medicaid claims for ICF/IID services. Verify client eligibility, authorizations, and billing requirements before claim submission. Monitor the status of submitted claims and follow up on unpaid, pending, rejected, or denied claims. Contact New Mexico Medicaid, Managed Care Organizations (MCOs), and other payers to research and resolve billing issues. Correct claim errors and resubmit claims promptly. Investigate payment discrepancies and reconcile payments received. Maintain accurate billing records and documentation. Collaborate with Program Managers, Human Resources, Nursing, and other departments to obtain documentation needed for billing. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, Medicaid, and HIPAA regulations. Stay current with New Mexico Medicaid billing requirements, policy updates, and reimbursement guidelines. Generate billing reports and assist leadership with accounts receivable follow-up as requested. Perform additional administrative duties related to revenue cycle management as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or certification in Medical Billing and Coding preferred. Minimum of 2 years of medical billing experience required. Experience billing New Mexico Medicaid and/or ICF/IID services strongly preferred. Knowledge of Medicaid claim submission, denials, payment posting, and accounts receivable follow-up. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, and Word). Excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Professional verbal and written communication skills. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive information. Ability to work independently while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience with New Mexico Medicaid billing systems. Knowledge of ICF/IID regulations and reimbursement processes. Experience working with developmental disability service providers. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and billing software.
Pay:
$20.00 - $23.00 per hour Expected hours: No less than 32.0 per week
