Overview On-Site, In-Person, 4-5 Days a Week, Mon-Sat Our growing, patient-focused dental practice is seeking an experienced Insurance & Billing Specialist. The right candidate is high-caliber, and ready to take command of our revenue cycle and drive practice growth. We are seeking a proactive professional who views claims management as a strategic puzzle and patient insurance benefits as an untapped avenue for practice growth. You will not just build and submit claims; you will own them. You will lead the charge in accounts management, disputing underpayments, and appealing denials to protect our revenue. Beyond standard billing, you will act as a growth catalyst. By thinking outside the box, you will analyze patient plans, identify unused approved allowances, and proactively engage patients to schedule needed care—directly expanding our patient base and maximizing revenue. Responsibilities Own revenue cycle management. Manage the end-to-end claims lifecycle from submission to full resolution. Master dual systems. Leverage Open Dental for current workflows while seamlessly referencing legacy data in Dentrix. Resolve complex claims. Analyze denials and underpayments to build strategic, successful appeals. Unlock growth opportunities. Review patient insurance benefits to identify unused approved treatment allowances. Engage patients proactively. Connect with patients regarding unused benefits to encourage scheduling needed care. Manage practice accounts. Lead collections efforts and maintain zero-tolerance for outstanding balances. Audit ledger accuracy. Reconcile insurance payments against fee schedules to eliminate billing errors. Skills Proficiency in dental office management software, billing software such as Dentrix, and Open Dental, and Microsoft Office tools Excellent communication skills with the ability to appeal to various audiences Exceptional organizational skills Ability to take initiative, think outside of the box, and take the lead Deep understanding of end-to-end dental insurance billing processes. (Revenue Cycle) Growth-minded with the ability to audit patient plans to maximize unused allowances Advanced knowledge of dental (and/or medical) claims management, medical coding and billing procedures Experience working with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems in a healthcare setting Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with patients and insurance providers Advanced understanding of health insurance policies, medical terminology and records management, medical collection processes and healthcare claims management Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment English, with additional Second Language is a major plus (Chinese, Korean, Spanish) This role is ideal for motivated individuals eager to make a positive impact on patients' lives while ensuring the financial health of the practice.
