We are seeking an experienced, dependable, and proactive Medical Billing & Insurance Specialist to become an important part of our team. Why You'll Love Working Here Three-day weekend every week Flexible Monday-through-Thursday schedule Approximately 10-25 hours per week No evenings, Fridays, weekends, or holidays Starting pay of $20.00 per hour, based on experience Two weeks of paid vacation after the 90-day introductory period, based on eligibility Paid holidays after the 90-day introductory period, based on eligibility 30-day and 90-day performance reviews Supportive, respectful, and positive work environment Opportunity to grow with a thriving psychiatric practice Meaningful work that directly supports patient care A team that values honesty, kindness, initiative, and excellence Responsibilities Submit electronic and paper insurance claims accurately and promptly Review claim status and follow up on unpaid or delayed claims Post insurance and patient payments Review electronic remittance advice and explanations of benefits Identify and correct rejected claims Manage claim denials, reconsiderations, and appeals Verify insurance eligibility and benefits when needed Review aging reports and follow up on outstanding balances Manage patient balances and communicate professionally with patients Assist with insurance credentialing, recredentialing, and provider enrollment Maintain organized and accurate billing and credentialing records Communicate with insurance companies, clearinghouses, and providers Identify recurring billing problems and opportunities to improve efficiency Help develop and maintain effective billing procedures and workflows Protect patient privacy and follow HIPAA requirements Mail paper statements as needed Who We're Looking For The right person for this position: Takes pride in doing things correctly Pays close attention to details Is organized and maintains thorough records Takes ownership of tasks from beginning to completion Notices problems and works proactively to resolve them Is dependable and follows through on commitments Communicates kindly and professionally Is comfortable calling insurance companies Enjoys researching and resolving complicated billing issues Works well independently without needing constant direction Is flexible and willing to help where needed Continually seeks to learn and improve Values honesty, kindness, initiative, teamwork, and excellence Wants to become a valued, long-term member of the practice Qualifications Previous medical billing experience is required Knowledge of insurance claim submission and follow-up is required Experience with denials, appeals, payment posting, and accounts receivable is required Credentialing and provider enrollment experience is preferred Behavioral health or mental health billing experience is strongly preferred Experience with electronic health portals with willingness to learn a new portal if needed Familiarity withCMS-1500
claims, CPT codes, modifiers, and insurance portals is preferred Experience using Availity, clearinghouses, electronic health records, or practice-management systems is a plus Strong computer, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements High school diploma or equivalent required Medical billing or coding education or certification is helpful but not required with strong experience Employment Requirements Employment is contingent upon successful completion of: Background check Pre-employment urine drug screening Verification of employment history and relevant experience About River City Psychiatry At River City Psychiatry, we believe every person matters—including our employees.
