Insurance provider collaboration Documentation review Full Job Description The Home Health Billing Specialist is responsible for accurately and timely processing home health claims, reviewing patient and insurance information, following up on unpaid or denied claims, and maintaining accurate billing records. The ideal candidate must have hands-on experience with home health billing , including Medicare, and commercial insurance billing. Prepare, submit, and monitor home health claims accurately and within required deadlines. Verify patient demographics, insurance eligibility, authorization, and coverage. Review documentation to ensure services provided are properly supported for billing. Process Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance claims. Review and correct rejected, denied, and returned claims. Follow up on outstanding accounts receivable and unpaid claims. Post insurance payments, adjustments, and patient payments accurately. Research billing discrepancies and resolve payment issues. Communicate with insurance companies, patients, and internal staff regarding billing matters. Maintain organized billing records and supporting documentation. Monitor authorization and certification requirements that may affect billing. Review visit information, orders, and required documentation before claims are submitted. Assist with monthly accounts receivable reports and billing reconciliation. Identify billing errors and make corrections promptly. Maintain confidentiality of patient information and comply with HIPAA requirements. Stay current with payer requirements, billing guidelines, and changes affecting home health reimbursement. Work closely with clinical, medical records, and administrative staff to resolve billing issues. Perform other billing and administrative duties as assigned.
