Job Description

Responsibilities Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes and hotel standards.

Ensure all food is prepared consistently, safely, and with attention to quality.

Follow proper portion sizes, presentation, and plating standards.

Ensure food is served at the proper temperature and within appropriate preparation times.

Prepare ingredients by washing, cutting, chopping, measuring, and portioning as needed.

Maintain proper food storage, labeling, dating, and rotation procedures.

Follow FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures.

Monitor food quality throughout preparation and service.

Maintain clean and organized workstations throughout the shift.

Properly clean and sanitize cooking equipment, utensils, and food preparation areas.

Follow all food safety, sanitation, and HACCP procedures.

Monitor food temperatures and maintain appropriate temperature logs as required.

Communicate food shortages, equipment concerns, and other kitchen issues to the General Manager

Assist with receiving, storing, and organizing food products.

Minimize food waste while maintaining quality and proper portions.

Work effectively with Bistro and Front Desk team members to provide timely service.

Respond professionally to guest requests and food-related concerns.

Assist with opening and closing kitchen duties.

Follow all hotel policies, procedures, and Marriott standards.

Perform other duties as assigned by the General Manager Requirements Previous cooking or restaurant experience preferred.

Culinary education or food-service experience is a plus.

Knowledge of basic cooking techniques and food preparation.

Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.

Ability to follow recipes and preparation instructions accurately.

Strong attention to detail and food quality.

Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Reliable attendance and punctuality.

Positive attitude and strong work ethic.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Ability to communicate effectively with kitchen and restaurant staff.

Ability to stand for extended periods and lift, carry, push, and pull as required. Courtyard Marriott Downtown El Paso is looking for a dedicated, energetic, and passionate Cook I to join our Bistro team! The Cook I is responsible for preparing and cooking food items according to established recipes, portion standards, quality requirements, and food safety procedures. The Cook I will help ensure that every meal served in the Bistro is fresh, properly prepared, consistently presented, and served at the appropriate temperature.
