Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Billing Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in managing billing processes, ensuring accurate invoicing, and maintaining financial records within a medical office environment. This position requires a strong understanding of medical billing practices, coding systems, and relevant terminology. Duties Process and manage medical billing for services rendered, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations. Review patient accounts for discrepancies and resolve any issues related to billing or collections. Utilize coding systems such as ICD-9 and ICD-10 to accurately code diagnoses and procedures. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology and billing practices to ensure proper documentation. Collaborate with healthcare providers to obtain necessary information for billing purposes. Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies and follow up on unpaid claims. Maintain organized medical records and documentation related to billing activities. Assist in the collection of outstanding payments from patients and insurance companies. Experience Previous experience in medical billing or a related field is preferred. Familiarity with DRG (Diagnosis Related Group) coding is a plus. Proficient understanding of medical office operations and procedures. Experience with medical collections processes is beneficial. Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interact with patients, providers, and insurance representatives.
