Collections & Exhibits The Goldrich Cultural Center is seeking a highly organized Collections Coordinator to join our team. This role will be to organize, research, and catalogue materials from the Museum's collection, including personal papers, photographs and manuscripts, official documents, three-dimensional artifacts, and oral histories. This position reports to the Collections Manager. The Collections Coordinator will utilize pre-determined metadata standards, and work within the Museum's Collection Management System (CMS) to create object records for unprocessed materials and work to enhance existing catalogue records where needed, to make the collection discoverable and accessible to researchers, scholars, students, and the public. This position reports to the Collections Manager, with oversight and guidance from the Vice President of Collections and Exhibits. This position offers a unique opportunity to support a critical initiative that safeguards the legacy and stories held within the Museum's archives, reinforcing the Museum's mission to educate and inspire.
Key Responsibilities include:
Create object records in the Museum's CMS for newly donated collections, including descriptive information about the artifact and its history, as well as inventory numbers, subject terms, location, date, and country of origin, and provenance. Scan and/or photograph objects from the collection, as well as attaching any finding aids, transcripts, translations, summaries, or other appropriate material, to the object record. Preserving, cataloguing, and digitizing primary source artifacts such as personal papers, photographs and manuscripts, official documents, three-dimensional artifacts, and oral histories. Conduct necessary background research into artifacts in the collection, including information about the specific object, its provenance, and any relevant historical context. Work collaboratively with the Collections Manager, Associate Collections Manager, Vice President of Collections and Exhibits, and Chief Impact Officer (as needed) to ensure consistency of metadata to enhance access and discoverability of the collection and update existing procedures where needed. Apply proper collection handling care and preservation techniques when dealing with objects in the collection, including proper handling and housing/storage of artifacts, utilizing museum best practice. Provide support to the Collections Manager and Vice President of Collections and Exhibits where needed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Museum Studies, Library Science, Archive, or History related field, with basic training or experience in collections management principles and practices. Professional experience in a directly related field of work such as history, archive, or museum work, that involved working with the handling and cataloging of a collection in a CMS. Experience in research with an interest in collection management and Holocaust/20th-century European history. Strong organization and time-management skills, with an attention to accuracy and detail. Fluency in a second language such as German, Polish, Dutch, French, Russian, Yiddish, or Hungarian, a plus.

  • Friday, 9:00am
  • 5:00pm Pacific Standard Time. Some evenings and weekends will be required. Salary/Benefits The Collections Coordinator has a base rate of pay of $25.70
  • $27.
20 per hour, based on experience and other qualifications. Generous PTO includes vacation and paid holidays, and health benefits.
