Job Description

Field Technician - Roadway Data Collection Job Summary We're looking for a reliable, detail-oriented Field Technician to collect roadway asset data, including retroreflectivity measurements on traffic signs and roadway striping. This is a project-based, 1099 independent contractor opportunity involving hands-on outdoor work using specialized measuring equipment, mobile apps, and GPS devices. No previous experience is required—training will be provided. Responsibilities Collect retroreflectivity measurements on traffic signs and roadway striping using specialized equipment. Record asset locations, measurements, conditions, and other required information. Use smartphones, tablets, or GPS devices to collect and verify mapping data. Take clear photographs and complete digital field forms. Follow equipment setup, calibration, and measurement procedures. Review collected data for accuracy and completeness. Report damaged assets, access issues, equipment problems, or unexpected conditions. Follow established roadside safety and traffic control procedures. Communicate daily progress to the project lead and submit completed field data. Qualifications Comfortable using smartphones, tablets, and basic mobile applications. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions. Dependable, organized, and able to work independently or with a team. Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions and near roadways under established safety procedures. Able to walk on varied terrain and carry field equipment. Able to travel to assigned project locations. Preferred, but Not Required Experience in roadway maintenance, traffic operations, surveying, inspections, utilities, or field data collection. Familiarity with GPS devices, digital maps, or retroreflectivity equipment. Experience following roadside work-zone safety procedures.

Compensation:
$22 Hour and milage reimbursement
Travel :
