STATUS:
Non-exempt , Seasonal , Full time, SEASONAL , (37.5 hours as week from approximately Sept. - May)
HOURLY RATE
$16.50 SUMMARY Supports adults, sixty and older with the completion of HEAP applications. Determines eligibility for federally funded energy assistance program. Reviews applications, interviews applicants and computes income data.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIILITIES
Interviews applicants by phone or in-person to secure information required for eligibility determinations. Reviews and evaluates applications for accuracy, completeness and consistency of information. Secures required verifications from applicants. Follow up with applicants for requested documentation. Meets with clients who walk-in for assistance with application. Prepares income calculations and computes financial eligibility. Completes appropriate paperwork for application disposition. Enters application information into the proper county databases for tracking Advises applicants of eligibility determinations. Explains applicable energy assistance rules, regulations and policies. Evaluates applicants for participation in other assistance programs. Corrects errors on authorization forms. As time allows, may assist with other benefit applications, per supervisor's request. Participates in Lifespan mandatory meetings. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION
Associates Degree preferred
EXPERIENCE
A minimum of two years relevant experience in customer service and/or human services. Experience with older adults is preferred. Computer skills required.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIRMENTS
Strong verbal, written and telephone communication skills are required. Ability to multi-task in a active work environment with particular attention to detail. Ability to work in a team environment. Ability to provide services with dignity and respect. Ability to sit at an office workstation on the computer or phone for most of the work day. Ability to work in multi-cultural situations. Some lifting (files, etc.) of less than 20 lbs., some standing, bending and filing.
