The Authorization and Eligibility Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring that clients receive timely and accurate authorization for services and benefits. This position involves verifying client eligibility, processing authorization requests, and collaborating with healthcare providers and insurance companies to facilitate service approvals. The specialist will analyze complex policy information and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements to minimize delays and denials. By managing detailed records and communicating effectively with multiple stakeholders, the role supports the overall efficiency and quality of service delivery. Ultimately, this position contributes to the organization's mission by ensuring clients access the care and resources they need without unnecessary administrative barriers.Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or higher preferred. Experience in healthcare administration, insurance verification, or a related field. Strong knowledge of insurance authorization processes and eligibility criteria. Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems and standard office software. Excellent communication and organizational skills.Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with Medicaid, Medicare, or private insurance providers. Familiarity with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA and CMS guidelines. Background in medical billing or coding. Ability to analyze and interpret complex insurance policies and healthcare regulations.Responsibilities:
Review and verify client eligibility for various healthcare services and insurance benefits. Process and submit authorization requests to insurance providers and follow up on pending approvals. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of authorizations, denials, and appeals in compliance with organizational and regulatory standards. Communicate with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and clients to resolve authorization issues and clarify coverage details. Monitor changes in insurance policies and regulations to ensure ongoing compliance and update internal procedures accordingly.Skills:
