Job Description

Jenks Public Schools Job Description Position:
Insurance Specialist Reports to:
Director of Financial Services Supervises:
None Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent required. Experience with computers and Microsoft Office software programs. Required mathematics skills (multiplication, division, subtraction, fractions and calculate percentages) on a daily basis. Must have a strong background in customer relations. Must have excellent communication skills, be self-motivated, directed, dependable, task and detail oriented, and proficient in problem solving. Ability to speak in front of small groups (10 to 25 employees). Satisfy all district requirements with regards to physical health and citizenship. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Position Goal:
Assist employees with insurance selections and changes. Maintain all district records regarding employees medical, dental, life, disability, vision, cancer, legal or any other board authorized payroll deduction relating to insurance coverage, district 125 plan, and district annuity plan.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Enroll and assist employees with current insurance selections and changes for health, dental, and life insurance plans endorsed by the school board. Process paperwork for changes, including name, address, and life insurance beneficiaries. Provide ongoing assistance to employees regarding insurance concerns or questions. Assist Insurance Coordinator with option period, including meeting and assisting employees to enroll, change, or terminate insurance. Enter and maintain all enrollments, changes and terminations, on-line with insurance carriers and district software, beginning with option period and continuing throughout the year to ensure adjustments are made timely and accurately to coordinate with scheduled payrolls. Prepare list of new enrollments, changes, and terminations for reconciliations of monthly billing statements. Reconcile all products every month. Review all payrolls and make necessary adjustments to employee deductions. Mail COBRA letters to all terminating employees. Process paperwork and coordinate with insurance carriers. Assist Insurance Coordinator with Section 125 Plan. Maintain and archive Insurance Records. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Employment Terms:
Twelve (12) month classified hourly contract

Reach with hands and arms overhead, above shoulder and horizontally; lift/move up to 40 pounds.
Visual Requirements:
Close, color, peripheral, depth perception, ability to adjust focus.
Hearing/Speaking Requirements:
Adequate to exchange information.
